Who We Are
Founded in 1902
H.B. Brink and Company, one of the oldest businesses in Lawrenceburg, was founded in 1902 by Henry B. Brink. Henry was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Lawrence County with his family as part of the German Catholic Homestead Association migration. Initially, he worked in Toledo, Ohio, gaining experience in mechanical drawing and contracting before returning to Lawrenceburg. Henry partnered with Thomas B. Heyer to run a planing mill but soon started his own business, purchasing lots on Depot Street in 1902 and 1903. The company quickly grew, with Henry constructing additional buildings and expanding the business to include a lumber yard, frame storehouse, and various other facilities. By 1904, H.B. Brink and Company had established itself as a prominent supplier of lumber and building materials in the region.
Locally Owned & Operated
Throughout its history, H.B. Brink and Company expanded its property holdings and grew its operations. Henry married Catherine Selle in 1905, and his brothers, Frank, Herman, and Tony, eventually joined the business. In 1925, the company was incorporated with $50,000 in capital. Despite facing challenges, the company remained successful under the management of Henry’s descendants and long-time employees. Today, the business is owned by David, Dan, Tom, and Louis Brink, with Louis serving as manager since 1995. The current building, constructed between 1919 and 1921, replaced earlier structures and allowed for continued growth. The company has maintained a strong presence in the community, providing custom millwork and a wide range of building materials for over a century.
